Four Crucial Skills that Will Help You
Have a Better Relationship

A step towards having a better relationship can at times be as easy as making a gesture with our loved one, doing something unexpectedly nice amidst the sheer routine that sometimes envelopes us couples.

   1000 Questions for Couples

This is the fastest and easiest small step we can take, and it can put the relationship into the right 'heartframe' to take bigger steps later.

Another important step to have a better relationship is becoming a better lover, learning how to turn a man on, or how to please your woman. Or it can be as simple as listening to him or to her.

  • Listening is the most important skill we can acquire in our quest to have a better relationship and to be a better lover.

In addition to listening, some other important skills to keep a relationship healthy and
satisfying are:

  • Communication skills: if you cannot properly express your needs, or you cannot
properly interpret your partner’s, or some good combination of both, then you can
be sure there’s bound to be trouble in love-land. Unmet needs fester and will come
    out one way or another.
  • Ability to put yourself in the other person’s shoes: some refer to this as
empathy. Be able to feel and see things from your partner’s perspective. You don’t
have to agree with that view, only be a ble to see and feel from there, momentarily suspending your own point of view.

And…

  • Awareness of how you are being perceived. We need to know how we ‘land’
on others, specifically on our significant other. What things irritate our partner,
what things delight him or her. How much of one vs. the other has been
    accumulating?

In our experience, every relationship as it evolves and progresses, will require a fair
amount of work in order to be successful. To have a better relationship, you will need
patience, understanding, creativity, risk-taking, humility, and lots, lots of love.
